Additions to the agenda: none

New Business:
A. Jennifer Shapiro, Lifestyle Essentials (LE) Quarterly Report
· “Wall of Champions’ participants =235. These are people who use the fitness center 12 times or more each month.
· An Appreciation Day was offered in January; fruit was provided to fitness patrons. This month, a pass to take two free classes will be offered.
· The Biggest Loser program is underway.
· Hoping to start the Simply Fit program again; LE is looking for day and time suggestions. LE is also investigating having an open house for patrons to come in try shortened versions of the fitness classes.
· A free self defense class was held in March with six participants; and a Kids Fitness Class was also held with nine participants.
· Americorps NCCC, who were volunteering at Gorman Heritage Farm, received authorization to use the ERD fitness center during their stay. The group greatly appreciated being able to use the facilities.
· Upcoming programs and events include Biggest Loser wrap-up, another day of member appreciation, a hip-to-waist measurement promotion.
· Hopefully, the Flex Pass troubles have been worked out as no comments have been received. LE is running longer class sessions, especially in the winter when weather and holidays can cancel classes.

B. Michele Gottschlich had an emergency meeting at work and will be unable to attend this meeting as noted on the agenda. The invitation to attend next month has already been extended.

Old Business:
A. Evendale Bike Plan update/May Bike Month
· The second annual Bike Rodeo will be at 10:00am on Saturday, May 14th here at the Recreation Center. Evendale and Glendale Police officers will be here to check the “road worthiness” of bikes and to guide participants through a bike safety course. Stiney will check with the Fire Department to see about the availability of staff and helmets. David is checking with Wal-Mart about donating two bikes for a raffle.
· CACC is hoping Wyoming and Woodlawn will join CACC on a regular basis and begin developing bike trails and programs in their communities.

B.  Lifestyle Essentials’ Monthly Report: as noted in the packet.

Director’s Report:
· The Torso fitness machine needed a  spring and pin replaced. The upright bike is supposed to be repaired today.
· The Council Committee has returned guidelines for fees and rentals. Commission members should email David with any questions, comments, concerns by May 3rd when he will then address the comments with council committee that evening. A resolution may be placed on Council’s May agenda for formal adoption. The Commission’s fee subcommittee will use the guidelines at its meetings each year. Our fees and rental charges are comparable to Blue Ash, Springdale, Sharonville and various private clubs; David does not foresee any fee changes.
· Various projects are being done at the pool (cleaning, power washing & staining of the shade trellises, fixing the line leak, etc.)
· New light fixtures have been installed in the racquetball courts and in the south gym. These are very cost efficient fixtures. We did have two bulbs broken when they were hit by balls; therefore the company sent over new covers to keep any glass from falling to the floor if bulbs are broken again. In addition to the new fixtures being installed; several rooms on the municipal complex have been upgraded with motion sensors. This will save the village money by lights only coming on when people enter a room and shuts the lights off soon after everyone leaves.

Phi Lambda Pi Report:
· From Stiney Vonderhaar and all of commission: congratulations to Alicia Hirnikel for earning 1000+ points in her Phi Lambda Pi career so far. Stiney Vonderhaar is the other Phi member to reach this level.
· Award’s Night was another success.
· Eight Phi members volunteered at the Egg-Stravaganza program.
· Concession Stand testing, training, and season opening are upcoming
· Recruitment continues for the Myrtle Beach trips. (Update: because of lack of registration, the 2011 trip has been cancelled.)

Open Discussion:
· Swim team news - this will be Chad Winkle’s last year coaching our kids. He has a accepted a position in Alaska to run a swim team program. He will leave shortly after championships.
· In a recent Cincinnati Enquirer Hometown section, our children’s programs were highlighted as the kids in Animals, books, and Crafts II “learned to drive” and road safety rules.
· Several of the department’s promotion postcards have been returned. Long time residents are trying new classes and purchasing their first membership to the department; while others are trying fitness classes for the first time.
· The tennis courts are up and running with practices and lessons. Power washing will done to a few areas to remove leaf-stains from the winter.
· The trails programs has been hibernating for the winter. A trail, to be maintained by the village, was included in the new contract between Gorman Heritage Farm and the village; but its placement is yet to be determined. Gorman Heritage Farm is currently working on a Five Year Master Plan. Fund availability at the farm and for the Village will determine where the trail program falls on the priority list.

Motion to adjourn at 8:18am by Stiney Vonderhaar; seconded by Wayne Mosley. Motion approved.
